About Project

Villa P, designed by Ofis MPU, is a private residential project located on the slopes of Kayseri’s Ali Mountain. Although the Çay Bağları region is 5 km away from the city center, it differs climatically from the city center. Since it is cooler and more breezy than the city center on dry summer days, there is a settlement in accordance with the 2-storey zoning plan. Since our project will be used for 12 months, harsh winter conditions were an important factor affecting our design. The building layout was created in a way that the front garden usage was maximized.

All areas of use of the project are completely related to the west facade and the front garden. This relationship opens to the front garden in a completely transparent way. A courtyard was created at the middle entrance by connecting the ground floor 3 main blocks. There is an opening to the courtyard from the kitchen and living room area. The height of 4 meters used on the ground floor keeps the stone masses more dominant, while the upper floor clamped system reveals our horizontal line independently of the matte black metal coating. Instead of sticking to the projection of the black horizontal mass, the protrusions made our request for an independent mass more evident. The upper floor mass settlement has increased the outdoor use by creating roof terraces on the east and west sides. Existing trees were taken into consideration during the implementation phase, and their number was increased. We need to associate our structure with nature to the maximum level. Since the silhouette of the building in summer and winter seasons on the land is completely different, our material choices and our positioning on the land have been created by taking this fact into consideration. The upper floor, two bedrooms, and the rest area have a completely transparent relationship with the west facade. There are two balconies on different facades connected to each bedroom. The simplicity created in the interior is supported by the use of white and natural wood as a reflection of the two contrasts created on the facade. In the main space transitions, integrity is desired with light transition elements instead of sharp elements such as walls. The connection between the kitchen, hall, entrance hall, and upper line hall is provided in a completely fluid way. Villa P differs from other conventional villa structures in the region in many ways, while the geographical reality has not been ignored.
