Marble, granite, travertine, and onyx are highly sought after both domestically and internationally. In particular, the provinces of Burdur, Afyonkarahisar, Bilecik, Denizli, and Muğla stand out for their high-quality marble and travertine deposits. These stones are widely used in construction, interior design, and landscaping due to their durability and aesthetic appeal.
Among the stones exported from Türkiye, marble leads the way. Varieties such as Afyonkarahisar White Marble, Burdur Beige Travertine, and Muğla Rosso Levanto attract significant attention in international markets. Granite production is also concentrated in Burdur and Balıkesir, where the stones are especially popular for kitchen and bathroom countertops. Onyx and alabaster are mainly used for decorative purposes and special projects.
In recent years, Türkiye’s natural stone exports have shown strong growth. Europe, the Middle East, and East Asia import large quantities of Turkish travertine and marble, contributing directly to the economies of the provinces where these quarries are located.
