Nestled within a 4-decare olive grove in the Sazlı Altı neighborhood of Çanakkale’s Ayvacık district, DY House is designed for year-round living, seamlessly bridging local architectural vernacular with contemporary interpretation. The residence aspires to cultivate a harmonious dialogue with its environment while ensuring an elevated level of comfort and aesthetic cohesion.
The two-story dwelling, structured in reinforced concrete, has undergone a comprehensive redesign while respecting its original boundaries. The façade employs local stones, meticulously salvaged from abandoned village houses, arranged in subtle variations to evoke an organic rhythm. The front façade, fully embracing the landscape, is clad entirely in these stones, while the lateral and rear façades are balanced with a refined stucco finish, achieving a coherent visual identity.
Internally, the ground floor accommodates a living room, kitchen, guest WC, and electrical room. Natural oak and carefully selected shades of green dominate the material palette, reinforcing the connection to the surrounding olive grove. Natural travertine flooring extends across the ground level, imparting a serene, tactile quality that anchors the space in both materiality and atmosphere. The first floor comprises a master suite and two guest bedrooms, where expansive windows frame captivating sea views. Oak flooring and bespoke furniture are complemented by soft pastel tones, crafting a balanced, tranquil retreat.
