The Akasya A15 Office, situated within the Akasya Shopping and Business Center—a dynamic complex with a curvilinear plaza structure and a transparent façade—occupies a strategic position at a key intersection of Istanbul’s Anatolian Side, where major transportation arteries converge. Designed by THE CATWORK, the space caters to the evolving needs of a law firm by leveraging the inherent advantages of the plaza structure while responding to user demands.
The office layout features a central entrance occupying half the floor’s total area. The reception and meeting units are centrally located, with one wing extending towards the work and service areas, which culminate in a lounge and terrace, while the opposite wing houses the management areas. The spatial arrangement divides the functions into office units and service areas, with the latter positioned within the working and circulation zones. The design integrates lighting strategically to allow the work units to function as independent volumes, each distinct yet in harmonious relation with its surroundings. The curvilinear, transparent, self-contained work modules along the façade facilitate the continuous flow of light throughout the office, enhancing the transparency and connectivity between spaces. This arrangement not only allows natural light to permeate the interior but also creates a spatial hierarchy where acoustic needs are met within the overarching volume. The service areas, isolated from this volume, are set as opaque units close to the core, connected by a horizontal corridor.
Material and color choices reinforce the natural continuity of the design. A uniform marble is employed throughout the circulation areas, while glass partitions maintain the transparency between the modules. Wooden panels with varying textures and colors are used across the floors, walls, and ceilings. In addition to these three fundamental materials, the use of landscaping elements and lighting lines further accentuates the design’s form.
Through these thoughtful decisions, the Akasya A15 Office presents an office environment that communicates continuity and coherence, seamlessly integrating light, material, and spatial organization into a holistic and refined design.
